A Photo(shop) Interpretation of the 2008 Mets

I don't know how the ancients dealt with heartbreak, but we moderns have funny fotos!

Cowbell man and Schoeneweis separated at birth?

Someone needs to tell him, these make him look like a blind guy.

Only thing they saved all season.

Where's Omar?

Nice game, pretty boys!

The night photo of the two stadiums is just great.

Everyone is so mad at Jose and David, but I am not. I think they had good seasons. I won't blame them for what happened. And the photo of Keith and Darryl made me sad. When was that taken?

Why is everyone saying the Mets won't go after K Rod? Is Omar just being coy? If we had had him this year we'd have the best record in baseball. Everybody talks about what happened to the Mets after Billy's injury - how that was such a big problem. He was a problem BEFORE he was injured - think of all the blown saves he had!

i agree that the mets were not out of the woods even with Wagner; he was anything but stable this year and his playoff record was nothing to write home about. Plus they still had no viable setup men, and at least 2-4 guys who would blow the games in the 6 and 7th innings. However, it is reasonable to think they would have inched into the playoffs with Country time.

As for Krod, the Mets seem to be hesitant to throw money at another big name closer. I don't know exactly what their reasoning is. But whoever lands him will pay and pay for a long time. There are probably some things about his numbers that scream caution too. It seems that they are aiming to land a lower profile closer, and it may be because they just noticed the high profile guys get hurt at the worst possible times too. Maybe they have seen other teams "create" closers. Some things are for sure: they need to clean house, they need to get some thunder arms in there, and they need to have plenty of choices. It will be a frustrating winter since every big ticket item will want to draw the Mets into the bidding.

I just keep seeing ironic pictures of the AIG advertisement on the outfield wall.

I dunno when, but i'm guessing the picture was taken at the hight of the 80s for GQ or something.

People are just exasperated that david and jose can put up great numbers but not come through when they really needed too. We are stuck with the core we have--three perfect (in their own ways) players who do not seem to gel when it comes to the big games--This is why I am praying for the Mets to make a few moves that add another reliable big bat and some strong supporting pieces. This off-season is big.

knowing Omar, the core will stay, he'll trade "I'm not Lastings" Martinez for Odalis Perez and Wil Nieves, sign Trevor Hoffman as closer, give Delgado a 4 year extension, sign Tony Alvarez, Cliff Floyd and Humberto Cota as bench depth, and fill the pen with the likes of Jamey Wright, Al Reyes, and Guillermo Mota and hope one or two stick. Ok, mebbe the Wilpons will splurge and sign Mark Grudzielanek for the bench as well just to give bloggers headaches all 2009 trying to spell his stupid name

if it would mean we could see Al ? Reyes? in action...

Fmart for Odalis Perez and Wil Nieves huh? Sounds about right if LMilz is the metric. That about ruins my day.

This organization really sucks! Now they're gonna sign Omar through 2013 and offered GAGSTA 2 years and he is trying to get a better deal out of them supposedly. No accountability at all! They all SUCK!!!!! I WANT TO PUKE AT THE THOUGHT OF EITHER OF THEM AROUND ANYMORE!

I watch a lot of baseball, and I don't even know who Humberto Cota is. Sounds like a catcher to me.

If you're playing along at home, Humberto Cota= drugged out Rockie minor leaguer.
